How To Do Effective PPC Keyword Research

by Trevor Johnson

PPC Keyword research has become a buzz phrase in the internet circles. It\’s almost the holy grail – and with good reason as it can make or break your online efforts.

Software and IT businesses have launched search based keyword software programs that can be used world wide.

Part of the same strategy, keyword marketing, SEO and PPC keyword research serve the same purpose in different ways.

PPC fulfils a wider purpose, which we call keyword marketing or search engine marketing. Of course, it rarely if ever focuses on individual words, so key phrase marketing would be a more accurate description.

With SEO and PPC, the idea is that you should use keywords wisely in order to gain traffic to your site.

The idea is to use effective keywords in the right places to the right audiences via search engines. These keywords are the most lucrative so long as you can pick the ones that have a decent number of searches without too much competition.

Finding the right keywords take time, testing and research, but it will deliver the results you wish to obtain.

Pay per click keyword research can be done via PPC Advertising and this is how you should do it to determine if the keywords you have selected are lucrative.

The first step is to do a search engine search for a keyword, to see how many results you find.

You can also use KEI (keyword effectiveness index) to help you select the right keywords to use on your website. This depends on both the popularity and the competitiveness of your keyword. This tool unfortunately does not guarantee the profitability of a keyword, so it should not be used as your only means of determining the best keywords.

A pay per click campaign centred around suitable keywords that complement your offering will determine the most rewarding keywords for your business. If you get lots of click through on a certain word, that shows that the keyword is generating traffic. Conversions will be determined by your landing pages and that will bring you sales.

Once you know which keywords are best suited to your niche and most profitable, you need to include them in your marketing efforts and landing page. Now sit back and see your efforts pay dividends.
